What happened?

Windows Update downloaded an automatic update. So I updated it and reboot. It took me to a screen that said "Configuring updates 3 of 3: 0%" then switched to "Shutting down" shortly after that without the percentage ever changing. It then went through the reboot process and took me to the same screen. Repeat.

Isn't it great when Windows's own official update patches FUCK EVERYTHING UP? S'great.

I didn't have a System Restore point set (says them, anyway, even though I'm sure that I did), so after a day and a half, I went and did some hackish shit and deleted update files from the registry to get it to boot. I don't really feel good about that fix though.
